Iron Man Armored Adventures

Your show had so much promise, it really did. spoilers, not that anyone should care, don't watch it, it sucks )

You could have ended this so much better. I could have written this better, and if I had the energy, I would, but I'm too frustrated with your suckitude. You really disappointed me. I now know how Cal felt about Code Geass. When something that could have been amazing sucks, it's a horrible feeling.

I give up on my fanfic. Too painful.

Auras!

  • Nov. 29th, 2009 at 3:22 AM
I'm surprised that I've never seen any art/fic for Ty Lee and Katara. I think they'd get along pretty well after the war. ;D

Pink Auras by ~Yamino on deviantART

It's an often-overlooked part of Ty Lee's character that she can see people's auras. Yes, I know she looks like pink Jesus or something... XD; Actually, "halos" are a stylized method of showing auras, such as those around familiar holy figures.

Many ancient cultures have records of people with this ability, including Asian cultures and mythology which Avatar is based on. I thought that giving her this trait was a really nice touch! If you're interested in learning more about auras, this is a good place to start: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aura_%28paranormal%29

Anyway...This is a picture from Ty Lee's point of view, and her aura is a happy glowing pink. <3

What are the three best books you have ever read and what are the three worst? What made them so good or bad?

  1. Les Miserables, a book that I think people should read at least once in their lives, just to feel their hearts touched by Hugo's genius. It's a rich and beautiful work that taught me about characterization.
  2. A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith, the first long book I ever read and one that shaped a lot of my views on life, and made me more dedicated to social welfare.
  3. A Wrinkle in Time-The first sci fi book I ever read and one of the best, a kick ass female character, a great mystery and a principle sci fi book.

Worst books:
  1. Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. Sparkly vampires, abusive relationships and a stupid heroine. Oh my.
  2. The Mists of Avalon-The book turned into "EvilCHRISTIANS RUINED EVERYTHING" real fast as did the tiresome characters
  3. Wheel of Time-By the end of the first book, my head hurt and I just wondered what everyone saw in it? It was insanely dense with meaningless details, and no plot in sight

Okay, so I'm working on a new article and have questions. What do you do with a beloved children's book that you now find to be problematic? Like Robin Hood, and explaining the crusades to young kids? Or Roald Dahl;s genius but anti-semitism?

Is it better to allow kids to read it and explain the problems then? Or just say nothing and let them discover it for themselves? Or just try and keep such books away?

Any examples you can think of?

Why Breaking Dawn Must Be Made Into a Movie

  • Nov. 28th, 2009 at 10:25 PM
With New Moon likely to make yet another metric fuckload of money this weekend we need to find the bright side to the entire Twilight mania. There must be something good that comes from this awful Mormon fantasy that seems to have invaded our culture on every front. That something is the eventual movie version of Breaking Dawn.

Even though New Moon has made a bazillion dollars and even though the third Twilight book, Eclipse, is already filming, Summit has declined to announce the fourth and final Twilight book as a movie. There's a good reason for this: Breaking Dawn is completely fucking insane, and it is probably totally unfilmable. But if they do film it... man, we are in for a treat. read more )

Not sure if this is allowed, so delete if it is.

I'm currently looking for fanfic prompts at my journal, and figured I might as well open it up to anyone who wanted some free fanfiction. More than one prompt can be submitted at one time, so take a look if you're interested.

Right here!

Note: I'm posting this on various communities that I belong to, so I'm sorry if I'm spamming anyone's friends list.

Mika's new album is, simply put, amazing. I've been alternating between him, Gaga and Tori Amos these past few days. They actually fit pretty well together in a playlist.

But before I waffle some more, here's my best album picks with links! )

Yeah, some of these get pretty weird.

Thankfulness

  • Nov. 26th, 2009 at 12:22 PM
I noticed no one really asked me any deep questions. Am I telling you people too much?

Okay, so what am I thankful for?

In no apparent order:
  • I am thankful for my grandfather, who always holds me up as the shmaltz of his herring and the joy of his joys.
  • I am grateful of the publishing oppertunities which are coming my way that I can read with him when they are done
  • I'm thankful for my Lily-bear and Natey, my favorite kids in the world who I love more each time I see them
  • I am thankful that I lived to see this year
  • I am thankful for the good friends I've made in law school
  • I am grateful I got to see Ryan this year, who made my trip a wonderful experience, even though I was miserable
  • I am grateful for the outpouring of support I had when I was ill
  • I am grateful for the State of Israel and the country I love so much
  • I am grateful for the US and thank them for taking my family in
  • I am thankful for Comic Con and meeting Christian Bale and Peter David and Liam O'Brian and Dwayne McDuffie and Greg Weisman and Kelly Hsu and Yuri&Tara and Greg Cipes and Ryan Kelly and James Frenkel and Gabi L and so many new friends
  • I'm grateful for Aryeh and Amanda who allowed me to take part in their blissful plans and I look forward to finally giving Aryeh away!
  • I am grateful for Ari N who makes me feel like I can do anything
  • I am grateful for my LJ friends who have richly given to me of their time and advice
  • I'm grateful for Cammy whose insanity led me to finding some of the best friends in the world
  • I am grateful for being able to go to Washington and meet many political celebrities
  • I am grateful for my beautiful apartment
  • I am grateful to be in law school
  • I am happy for the future

I think that should be everything.

Yeah, that's me

You work hard, seeking success. You are self-sufficient and in spite of all the trials and tribulations that have beset you in the past you carry on regardless.. You are one to be admired because you pursue your objectives single-mindedly and with initiative. You know that you can 'do it' and what is more, you will - without necessarily being dependent upon the goodwill of others.
You don't feel as if you can go it on your own anymore. You don't want to be taken for granted. You need to be recognised as a 'caring person' and it could be that you are searching to establish a relationship, not necessarily with someone new, but with that someone special who could feel the same way as you do.
Your involvements seldom measure up to your high emotional expectations and your 'needs' to be 'loved' and 'cared for' have in the past often led to extreme disappointment. But a change is in the wind - make a firm decision to start anew. Just 'think' it..and it will happen.
You pretend that you are a carefree individual and that nothing really bothers you - that you are so self-sufficient that whatever problems beset you they simply flow off you as water flows off a ducks back. You are experiencing considerable stress, trying to conceal yourself from the rest of the world. In actual fact - deep down, you are not at all happy. You feel lonely and you need someone with whom you can 'Let your hair down' and share your hopes, dreams and high standards. You are imposing unnecessary self restraint on yourself. You would like to demonstrate the unique quality of your character to all and sundry.
You are presently worried about your future and you feel that whatever you do will go wrong. At this time you are your own worst enemy. All the disappointment that you have experienced, coupled with the fear that there is no point in formulating fresh goals, have led to anxiety. You would like recognition and a position of trust but you are concerned that these hopes and dreams may not be realised. You are very argumentative and insistent that you are right - maybe you are - but you are pushing too hard. Take it easy, let go, and smile. Smiling and agreeing with people works wonders - try it and see.

EPIC. And the best part... Peter Facinelli is in it. Yep, making fun of the franchise he is in. At least someone who doesn't take that crap so seriously. Love him.

Commencing Combat: Chapter 2

  • Nov. 25th, 2009 at 9:21 PM
Umm... I can't remember is I posted this series here or not. Anyway, this is the 2nd chapter of Commencing Combat which is the 3rd is the series. I strongly suggest at least reading the first chapter of Commencing Combat before reading this. Another Battle and Prelude to War are both part of this series but each story can stand alone. At least at the moment they can.
